Akus ("we", "us", "our") is operated by AKUS Digital (ABN registered, Wollongong NSW, Australia). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide when creating an account and using our service, including:

• Name, email address, and business details (business name, suburb, description, phone number)
• Content you generate using our tools (social posts, emails, blog posts, website content)
• Payment information processed securely through our payment provider — we do not store card details
• Usage data including which tools you use and how often
• Files you upload such as logos and photos for your website

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and personalise the Akus service to your business
• Generate marketing content specific to your business name, location, and services
• Process your subscription and send billing-related communications
• Send service updates and support communications
• Improve our AI models and product features

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. AI Content Generation

Akus uses Claude (by Anthropic) to generate marketing content. The business information you provide (name, suburb, services, description) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate personalised content. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing. We do not use your content to train AI models without your consent.

4. Data Storage

Your account data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS in the Asia Pacific region). Uploaded files (logos, photos) are stored in Supabase Storage. Websites we build and publish on your behalf are hosted on Vercel's global network.

5. Sharing Your Information

We share your information only with the service providers necessary to deliver Akus, including:

• Anthropic — for AI content generation
• Supabase — for database and file storage
• Vercel — for website hosting and deployment
• Our payment processor — for subscription billing

All providers are bound by appropriate data processing agreements.

6. Your Rights

Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of marketing communications

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel, we retain your data for 30 days before permanent deletion, giving you time to export anything you need. You can request immediate deletion by emailing us.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no internet service is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
